As I start this blog, I’m in the beginning stages of what will be a decade-long journey through medical school and residency. For most people that seems like forever, and they are, of course, right. It’s an awfully long time to spend at the bottom of the food chain. After all, in my previous life, I had a pretty good job. With my own desk and a trendy Crate & Barrel coffee mug. Still, I traded a steady salary, decent future prospects, and most importantly, lots of sleep, for a shot at making a lifelong dream come true. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but also the most rewarding. And that’s why I’m okay with what lies ahead.
